Huzzah! I’ve finally gotten to Beginner’s Guide to WordPress, a simple, step-by-step training tutorial for new WordPress users, updated to version 2.9. And yes, you can still download it for free. You can even give it to students or clients with the Use Guidelines listed below. Downloading or copying the guide constitutes agreement to follow the Use Guidelines (I can’t believe I actually have to say that, but my lawyer says it’s necessary to protect my copyright and material). It’s a great tutorial and manual for new users and to help train other people who are contributing to a WordPress-based site.
What are the primary differences between WordPress version 2.7 and 2.9? Well, there are a lot of geeky things that I won’t go into here, but the main difference for most people is plugin installation integration and the new snazzy image editing capabilities when you add images to a post. I am trying to download Beginner’s Guide to WordPress and can’t seem to get it to work. I get an error saying I need Acrobat Reader 8 or 9 to open it but I have 9. Is there any other way to get it?

Dail, I’m not certain what browser you are using (although I suspect a version of Internet Explorer), however, you should be able to right-click on the link and then select “Download Linked File” or “Save Link As” (the exact wording will depend upon your browser version). You should be able to open it in your version of Adobe Acrobat Reader or any other program that reads PDF files.
I’d offer to email it to you, but it is a very large file.

I should be posting an update soon (WordPress 3.0 which will be pretty much the same thing, except the screen captures won’t confuse folks who think they should say 3.0).
