4 days from domain name registration to web design to launch!
The Peninsula College Entrepreneur Institute was past deadline already on launching a web site and needed it done Now. The organization also had no idea what to ask the college IT department about domain name and hosting options. It just knew it needed it had a laundry list of information to be included, a need to change the information frequently, a desire for something that looked professional yet personable — and almost no funds budgeted. In addition, they wanted a calendar of events and the possibility of expanding the site to include new features like discussion forums and teacher updates with time.
A Wordpress-base allowed instant use of an Event Calendar plugin to improve communication with the public.
Using Wordpress as the base, a standard template was modified, new rotating banner graphics were created from stock photography, a calendar module added for a modest donation of $25 to the developer, staff was trained and the site was up in 4 days within budget. The biggest delay was waiting 2 days for the domain name to populate the Internet web servers!
The staff are now regularly adding new classes, events, registration and support information and getting praise for the site’s look-and-feel.
