The No BS Guide to Online Marketing

I’m keeping this short for now. There are some changes coming to the site later this week, however, I promised the wonderful members of the Peninsula College Massage Therapy program that I’d get the edited version of The No BS Guide to Online Marketing up by today. So here it is: No BS Guide to Online Marketing – Short Version

The No BS Guide to Online Marketing (short version) presents the basics of an complete online marketing campaign for entrepreneurs and small business.
This guide is my small effort to help all small businesses, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and professionals who are looking for an honest, basic, quick crib sheet for putting their business or organization online from someone who isn’t trying to sell them an internet service. I admit that I have a bias towards Wordpress and other Open Source CMS solutions. I explain why in the guide. I’ll explain more in the forthcoming larger step-by-step guide. Included in the short guide are:
- the “secret” to online marketing success (no, I’m not kidding. The “secret” is in the guide. Keep reading and I’ll reveal it after the summary of the guide);
- what you really need to know about domain name registrars, hosting services, web design & development services, search engine optimization and other online marketing businesses;
- the 8 basic technical components to creating an online marketing campaign
- and the skinny on who and what to avoid as well as who and what to embrace.
The Secret to Online Marketing Success
I told you I’d tell you. Here it is. The key to online marketing in the 21st Century is to find out where your target audience is gathering online, find a way to join the conversation then make yourself useful to demonstrate knowledge and skill so you can gain authority.
Oh, dear. I may disappoint some people. I know some folks are wanting to hear that they just have to buy a certain product or simply believe with all their hearts while visualizing piles of money and repeating an affirmation. Frankly, I’ve always found those techniques to be expensive and a lot more work. (There are very few things I can believe with all my heart. My need for oxygen is one, but I confess to having an occasional doubt about even the healing power of chocolate.)
Seriously. It’s the same secret to marketing success that has driven economics since Lucy walked over to the campfire where everyone was huddled and said, “Speaking of food, have you tried roasting these roots?”
The short version of The No BS Guide is my gift to everyone. I really do want to help people, especially professionals and others with the entrepreneural spirit, to prosper in this New Economy. If you find it useful and feel compelled to encourage me spread the word through your social networks, link to me, use one of recommended resources — heck, buy me a latte.
