Damien, thank you for visiting.

I am not certain if you are looking for information on how to install Wordpress or how to make changes to the Wordpress code or themes. I believe you are looking for information on how to install Wordpress. If so, check first to see if your web hosting service offers automatic installation through something like Fantastico.

If you need or want to do a manual installation, you need to follow a few steps. Wordpress.org has an excellent written guide <a href="http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress" rel="nofollow">here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress</a>

There are also a number of videos on YouTube that walk you through Wordpress installation: h<a href="http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=install+wordpress&aq=0" rel="nofollow">ttp://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=install+wordpress&aq=0</a>

I hope that answers your question. I am working on a Basic Wordpress Administration Guide for release later this summer (after the official Wordpress Version 3.0 is released).

Hi,

I wish to learn wordpress but although I have css, Html knowledge and current server space etc I have never learnt ASP, PHP, database etc and thus wandered if you hve a beginner guide from wordpress starting from right at the beginning of downloading the software etc?

It would be so, so helpful as I am unable to find any tutorials etc as they all assume you have n operational site already set up.

Kind Regards
Damien

Thank you for the lovely comment. The usage guidelines are very simple: You may share the publication with others so long as the copyright remains intact and in my name and I'm given credit. It's basically the Creative Commons copyright.

By the way, I'm starting a new guide for Wordpress 2.9.2 this week and should have it out within the next 2 weeks. There will be two versions: The Beginner's Guide and The Basic Administrator's Guide. Please check back soon.

Hi. Great tutorial. I would like to publish this document to friends & clients of mine (with full credit to you of course) You mention a usage guide for terms of use. I can't find it. Can you help?

Thanks

Denise,

Thank you so much for this comprehensive explanation of WordPress. I've got several clients that need help learning how to use WP and I was about to embark on creating a tutorial along these lines. I will most certainly point them to your website and tell them to check out your guide. Thank you again for such a great tutorial!

Denise,
Glad you like the Beginner's Guide to Wordpress 2.7 and that it is proving helpful. Yes, you can change the photograph on a theme header. You do have to be able to ftp into your web server.

Instead of trying to answer the question in it's entirety here, I've created a new post: <a href="http://carolynecooper.com/tips-articles/how-to-change-the-header-image-or-photo-of-your-wordpress-theme" rel="nofollow">How To Change the Header Image or Photo of Your Wordpress Theme</a>.

I hope this helps. I'm sorry I don't have the screen grabs on the post yet, but I'm on deadline. I also apologize for not getting back to your sooner.
